Scalp Acupuncture

Specifically, in the UK, we primarily focus on the rehabilitation of patients with post-stroke sequelae. Although in China, there have been reports of hospitals using acupuncture as part of the initial emergency treatment for stroke patients.

We typically use a combination of scalp acupuncture and body acupuncture to treat post-stroke sequelae.

Professor Jiaoshun Fa from Shanxi Province has developed an independent acupuncture system called "Scalp Acupuncture" that combines traditional needling techniques with modern medical knowledge of brain cortical mapping. This therapy involves stimulating specific areas of the scalp, such as motor areas, sensory areas, and speech areas, based on neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, holographic biology, and modern medical theories. It differs from body acupuncture based on traditional Chinese meridian theory. The stimulation points in scalp acupuncture are determined based on the projection of cerebral sulci and gyri onto the scalp.

There are various schools or practitioners of scalp acupuncture, including Fang Yunpeng from Shaanxi, Tang Songyan from Shanghai, Zhu Mingqing from Beijing, and Yamamoto Toshikatsu from Japan etc.. Later, in China, an organization formulated technical operating standards for scalp acupuncture, and the World Health Organization (WHO) approved the "International Standardization of Scalp Acupuncture Point Names" protocol.

You can find lots of scalp acupuncture map on line.
