From April 2011 all herbal products must be registered under the Traditional Herbal Medicines Registration Scheme then can be imported to European countries.
Unfortunately, there are no Chinese medicine pharmacy companies having registered mostly because of the high registration fee and criteria. To my knowledge, there is one company in the UK has registered their herbal products. So you can imagine the price could be. Raw herbs and herbal powder still can be used in the UK.
With Brexit, we hope this ban will be lifted soon.
Your qualified practitioner will give you advice. All the herbal medicines are natural products. Safe dosage ranges and preparation methods have been carefully developed and specified over centuries of use.
